Greetings! Grace, love and peace in the name of God our Father and The Lord Jesus Christ. I first off want to apologize for being inexplicably Missing In Action the past few months. I have been working hard on my wedding planning as I have gotten married. Yes, The Lord has indeed blessed me with a wonderful, amazing woman of God who I have now married. So needless to say, I have been very busy trying to get my life in order and do the whole wedding-planning thing. But it was a success. I can easily say my wedding was the best day of my life. God is good!
But now please know that I am back and my life is back on a regular schedule. While I have been away, I was still attending and teaching at church and studying my Word but the blog was just not able to get my full attention. But please know that it has it now and will remain a major focus in my life. I will be updating regularly with Bible studies, articles on issues in Eschatology and all sorts of info you have come to expect from this site.
I will also be adding a personal blog page as well to keep casual readers and subscribers updated on things going on in my personal world so there will be no more unexplained absences…lol.
Again, thank you all so much for coming to this site and reading. Whether you like the articles, hate them or are indifferent please know that I appreciate every person who comes on here and all of the feedback I get. I welcome it.
And for those who see me as a brother in the faith, I ask for your continued prayers for my married and this blog. Stay tuned, I am working harder than ever on it. God bless!
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
For all of the theatrics of last week as Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach in Florida planned his “International Burn a Quran Day,” (which he then decided to cancel), what was most disturbing to me was not how much venom his man or how out of line with Scripture he was in planning to just insult and disrespect millions of people with this actions, but how little he promoted the Gospel. As tempting as it may be to want to commit some type of “statement act” against someone you perceive to be your enemy, that is not what Jesus instructed:
Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
The more we do these things, the more we please our Savior Jesus Christ. Our battle is never against another person. Our battle is not against a group of people. It is against spiritual powers. Now this does not mean that we cannot speak about the wrongs advocated by a certain religion, but at the same time we should not seek to be an offense to others just to make a statement of anger. This is just not Christian behavior. Pastor Jones admitted that he was not trying to love his enemies in this instance but was “sending a warning.” We should warn the world about sin and God’s judgment to come, but not by burning the books of another faith. Speaking out about the violence and other sinful behavior the Quran advocates is fine. We are to reprove unfruitful works of darkness. But it should be in the context of showing the love of Christ and to witness the Gospel. I think Pastor Jones was bothered by the growth of Islam and wanted to do something about, but this was not the right way. And it was certainly not like anything Jesus did in the Gospel accounts. But to his credit, Jones changed his mind.
Deuteronomy 32:35 To me [belongeth] vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in [due] time: for the day of their calamity [is] at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
With all the tragic news coming out of Haiti since the earthquake, there is good news as well. Christians and Christian groups among all denominations are pouring in aid and prayers for the ailing nation. And from athletes to actors, to nurses and school children, the world in general is stepping up and donating money and time to aid the people who have been stricken by this catastrophe. One thing we must not let up on though is prayer. As the military and relief workers finally start to make it into the country there are still people hurting. There are still children starving. There are still entire families buried alive under rubble. Hearts are broken and being pushed to the limits by affliction. Even if you struggle for what to say to God for these people, remember this
“…we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
Here is a prayer for them:
Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of All things, you have a purpose in everything you do and we submit to your perfect Will. Today we pray for the nation of Haiti.
We pray for those who have lost family and friends in the earth quake. Please comfort them and give them reminders that there is still hope, joy and comfort in you.
We pray for those who have been injured or who are sick. Dear Father, please touch their bodies. We know that all things can be done through your Holy Spirit and we pray for their physical healing.
We pray for the children who are lost, confused and frightened. Please let someone find them and take care of them until they are reunited with their families.
We pray for the souls of those who have passed. That they knew Jesus as their Savior and are with you in Heaven.
We pray for those who are still alive, that they call out to you and find you. That they keep their spiritual strength and faith as it’s being tested more now than ever.
We pray for the soldiers, aid workers, diplomats and volunteers who are being so courageous and compassionate to go down and assist the Haitian people. Please keep them safe, healthy and fed so they can be strong for the days and weeks ahead.
Heavenly Father we also pray for the world that is watching this crisis. Please continue to touch the hearts of people worldwide so that they will continue to donate funds to help assist the relief work in Haiti. And help people who have the means to keep spreading the word to others and raise awareness that this will be a long-term relief effort and requires long-term assistance.
And finally Lord God we pray for those who are watching who are unsaved. Who don’t know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Let people realize that as you wrote in your Word, life is a vapor. We don’t know when we may be the ones in a catastrophe, hurt, missing or dead. Our lives are precious and nothing we can take for granted. And even moreso for our eternal lives. Let people know that there is a God, who is real, and loves us. And you proved your love by sending your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us. To take a punishment so that no matter what happens, we are secure for eternity to be with you in Heaven.
We thank you and pray for all these things in the most precious Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
