Nigeria: Christian Persecution Continues

Let's pray the wickedness does stop

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved

Matthew 5: 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

After months of what seemed like relative peace in the city of Jos, Nigeria, the calm of the night was ripped apart by a vicious attack on Christians by Muslim Fulani herdsmen which resulted in 10 people dead, many wounded, homes destroyed and churches burned down. Here is an excerpt from the story:

The pastor of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), Maza II, Reverend Nuhu Dawat, was said to have lost his wife and two children to the invasion while his church was also burnt down

Reverend Dawat, who spoke with newsmen after the tragedy, said that at about 1am he heard a knock at his door and opened but found nobody standing at the door. Immediately he locked the door, sporadic gunshot rent the air and he bolted out through the backdoor and hid in a nearby farm, he said

“I was there watching as the people were breaking into houses and running after those who escaped from their houses. After they left, I returned to my house only to find my wife, two children and a grandson hacked to death”.

Again, these murders and attacks were simply because the people in this area choose to put their faith in Jesus Christ as their savior. As the persecution continues and more Bible prophecy is fulfilled, we must not stop praying for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria. We must ask the Lord to keep them safe, heal their wounds and strengthen their faith during these times of tribulation. And most importantly, continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ while demonstrating His love in their actions towards those who persecute them. May God let their light continue to shine in a very dark time.
